As everybody knows wine drinking is one of Allah’s rewards to pious believers in his paradise :
Pickthall: A similitude of the Garden which those who keep their duty (to Allah) are promised: Therein are rivers of water unpolluted, and rivers of milk whereof the flavour changeth not, and rivers of wine delicious to the drinkers, and rivers of clear-run honey; therein for them is every kind of fruit, with pardon from their Lord. (Are those who enjoy all this) like those who are immortal in the Fire and are given boiling water to drink so that it teareth their bowels?

=() Quran 83:25 ;” يُسْقَوْنَ مِنْ رَحِيقٍ مَخْتُومٍ “Muhammad Sarwar: They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers”
(wine: رَحِيقٍ )(sealed= مَخْتُومٍ ).
(exact translation to “pure wine” is done by many scholars such as :Sahih International/Mohsin khan/Yusuf Ali/Shakir/Muhammad Sarwar/Arberry/ Muhammad Asad/M. M. [ [ ]r> There are some confusing words in Islam that are used by Muslims to twist the issue of wine drinking.
1); keep in mind that there is only one place in Quran 76:21 it talks about” شَرَابًا طَهُورًا “(purifying drink)that is not the same as wine. The point that Muslims try to twist is here : in Arabic “شَرَابًا طَهُورًا “(purifying drink) is not exactly the same as ” خَمْرٍ “(wine). Drink is just a drink but wine is not any regular purifying drink , certain process( fermentation ) is necessary to make wine, then when Quran talks about ” خَمْرٍ ” that really means wine not purifying drink
2) In another case : Quran 78:24:6 ” لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا ” The word ” شَرَابًا ” “sharāban” means “just drink”, “any drink” and it is unrelated to the wine issue .
In some verses Allah apparently forgets that he promissed pure wine(in river and in sealed container) to reward his pious followers for their dedicated moral Islamic life ,then He attacks wine and drinking wine as a Satanic activity:
=()Quran 5:90 :”يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنَّمَا الْخَمْرُ وَالْمَيْسِرُ وَالْأَنْصَابُ وَالْأَزْلَامُ رِجْسٌ مِنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطَانِ فَاجْتَنِبُوهُ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ ” Muhammad Sarwar: Believers, wine, gambling, the stone altars and arrows (that the pagans associate with certain divine characters) are all abominable acts associated with satanic activities. Avoid them so that you may have everlasting happiness.
[ [ ]r> It is for this reaon that here in this hadith Allah curse it:
=() Abu Dawood Book of Knowledge (Kitab Al-Ilm) #3666/ Abu Dawood 3674/Sunan Abu Dawood Vol. 4, Book 26, Hadith 3666/Sunan Abu Dawood Vol. 4, Book of Knowledge (Kitab Al-Ilm), Hadith 3666
Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar:
The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Allah has cursed wine, its drinker, its server, its seller, its buyer, its presser, the one for whom it is pressed, the one who conveys it, and the one to whom it is conveyed.
Surprisingly again in another verse Allah changes his mind:
=() Quran 16:67″ وَمِنْ ثَمَرَاتِ النَّخِيلِ وَالْأَعْنَابِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِنْهُ سَكَرًا وَرِزْقًا حَسَنًا ۗ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً لِقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ “Mohsin Khan: And from the fruits of date-palms and grapes, you derive strong drink (this was before the order of the prohibition of the alcoholic drinks) and a goodly provision. Verily, therein is indeed a sign for people who have wisdom.
[h[ ]r> According to this verse aparantly in Islam drinking was ok and as verse says there is ” goodly provision “,”benefits” and ” sign of the wisdom” in it [ [ وَرِزْقًا حَسَنًا ۗ ]nd we see Mohsin Khan mentioned that in his translation as well [n[needless to say that overnight that "goodly provision”,”benefits” and ” sign of the wisdom” was gone and it became Satanic act!!]Tafsir from Ibn Kathir exactly reflects this :[ ht[ ]verse 16:66 Allah talks about milk how it is delicious drink that and how it comes from blood but it is different from blood , then he compare it to the wine that they get from date and grape.
In another verse Allah approved the benefits of wine:
=() Quran 2:219 :” يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الْخَمْرِ وَالْمَيْسِرِ ۖ قُلْ فِيهِمَا إِثْمٌ كَبِيرٌ وَمَنَافِعُ لِلنَّاسِ وَإِثْمُهُمَا أَكْبَرُ مِنْ نَفْعِهِمَا ۗ وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ مَاذَا يُنْفِقُونَ قُلِ الْعَفْوَ ۗ كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمُ الْآيَاتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَفَكَّرُونَ “Muhammad Sarwar: (Muhammad), they ask you about wine and gambling. Tell them that there is great sin in them. Although they have benefits for men, the sin therein is far greater than the benefit. They ask you about what they should give for the cause of God. Tell them, “Let it be what you can spare.” This is how God explains for you His guidance so that perhaps you will think.(wine= الْخَمْرِ )
As we see here Allah does not absolutely prohibit the wine(the same way that he did it for example in case of pork meat). He talks about benefit and harms and apparently he is softer on wine than pork meat !!! May be that is why he put the wine one of the rewards for the pious, dedicated believers in paradise not the pork meat !!!
One of the points that we have to notice is this that If Allah chose “wine drinking” as rewards in his paradise [his[his ultimate spritual attainment] Quran talks about some benefits then there should not be any excuse, surprise and problem if Muhammad drinks wine!!! and that is what we see in this Sahih hadith:
=() al-Bukhari Book of Drinks #508/al-Bukhari 5603/Sahih al-Bukhari Vol. 7, Book 69, Hadith 508/Sahih al-Bukhari Vol. 7, Book of Drinks, Hadith 508
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle was presented a bowl of milk and a bowl of wine on the night he was taken on a journey (Al-Mi’raj).
There can not be any wrong translation and bad interpretation because we see that tanslation of ” خَمْرٍ ” as “wine”.
One of Muhammad’s favorite drinks was called ” نبيذ (nabidh) ” . Nabidh or “Nabeedh” is a drink traditionally made from fruits such as raisins, grapes or dates after fermentation. If it is not fermented it is not “Nabidh”, then the story that some Muslims claim Muhammad used to sweeten his drink with raisen, date, honey etc… has nothingh to do with drinking “Nabidh”that is fermented drink. There are some ahadith that you can see the difference between regular drink and “Nabidh”:
=() al-Nasaa’i Book of Drinks #5760/al-Nasaa’i 5757/Sunan an-Nasaa’i Vol. 6, Book 51, Hadith 5760/Sunan an-Nasaa’i Vol. 6, Book of Drinks, Hadith 5760
It was narrated that Ibn Shubrumah said:
“Talhah said to the people of Al-Kufah concerning Nabidh: ‘It is a test whereby a young man may benefit but an old man may be harmed.’ If there was a wedding among them, Talhah and Zubaid would offer milk and honey to drink. It was said to Talhah: ‘Why don’t you offer Nabidh?’ He said: ‘I would not like a Muslim to become intoxicated because of me.'”
Apparently this hadith explains the “benefits” and “sins” that have been mentioned in the verse 2:219 and clearly we see that “Nabidh” is nothing but intoxicant drink.
[the[the same as issue in this hadith : Abu Dawood Book of Knowledge (Kitab Al-Ilm) #3664/Abu Dawood 3672/Sunan Abu Dawood Vol. 4, Book 26, Hadith 3664/ Sunan Abu Dawood Vol. 4, Book of Knowledge (Kitab Al-Ilm), Hadith 3664] There are many ahadith that Muhammad just ask the followers that if they are drunk they just can not come to the prayers [ if[ if their mind is”befogged”]the question is this: how about those people who have high capacity to drink large amount of wine and do not get drunk? Can they approach prayers? As mentioned here “IF” their mind is befogged, and “IF IT IS NOT” what? One more time he showed how soft he was towards drinking!!
=() Abu Dawood Book of Knowledge (Kitab Al-Ilm) #3662/Abu Dawood 3670/ Sunan Abu Dawood Vol. 4, Book 26, Hadith 3662/Sunan Abu Dawood Vol. 4, Book of Knowledge (Kitab Al-Ilm), Hadith 3662
=() Abu Dawood Book of Knowledge (Kitab Al-Ilm) #3663/Abu Dawood 3671/ Sunan Abu Dawood Vol. 4, Book 26, Hadith 3663/Sunan Abu Dawood Vol. 4, Book of Knowledge (Kitab Al-Ilm), Hadith 3663
Narrated Ali ibn AbuTalib:
A man of the Ansar called him and AbdurRahman ibn Awf and supplied them wine before it was prohibited. Ali then led them in the evening prayer, and he recited; “Say: O ye who reject faith.” He was confused in it. Then the following verse came down: “O ye who believe! approach not prayers with a mind befogged until you can understand all that ye say.
Again we see here that there is no direct order that they can not drink.
Here is another proof that Muhammad was not that much against drinking because he even orders how to prepare the “Nabidh”:
=() Muslim Book of Drinks #4903/Muslim 1987 e/Sahih Muslim Vol. 5, Book 23, Hadith 4903/Sahih Muslim Vol. 5, Book of Drinks, Hadith 4903
Abu Sa’id al-Khudri reported Allah’s Messenger (Peace be upon him) as saying: He who amongst you drinks Nabidh should drink that (prepared either from) grapes alone, or from dates alone, or from unripe dates alone (and not by mixing them with one another). Isma’il b. Muslim al-‘Abadi reported on the authority of the same chain of transmitters: Allah’s Messenger (Peace be upon him) prohibited us that we should mix dry dates with unripe dates or (mix) grapes with dry dates (and prepare Nabidh). He also said: He who amongst you drinks….the rest of the hadith is the same.
Here is a collection of mainly some Sahih ahadith related to “Nabidh” .They contain alot of information about the “Nabidh”,instruction of prepration, processing ,consumption rules and regulations, and many conflicting point as well:

=() Lesan Al-Arab dictionary)نبذ) لسان العرب)Nabaza; نبذ
وإِنما سمي نبيذاً لأَن الذي يتخذه يأْخذ تمراً أَو زبيباً فينبذه في وعاء أَو سقاء عليه الماء ويتركه حتى يفور فيصير مسكراً.Translation: “It is called nabeezen because whoever takes it, he takes dates or raisin and yanbuzu (the act ) in a pot or something like that (sekaa) and adds water to them and leaves them till they ferment يفور and they become intoxicant.”
From the above definition we can understand that nabeez can be intoxicant and causes intoxication .It is not only “Lesan Al-Arab dictionary” call it intoxicant here are some other dictionaries who call it wine and intoxicant:
